THE TRANSCENDENT REP


WARNING: The transcendent rep is not for the faint at heart!

Last week on Monday, November 21st of this year I began a new "fitness" journey. I stepped towards a goal of going from 190 lbs to 201 lbs with the same level of cardio conditioning that I currently have if not better. This means adding lean mass and putting my body through pain at a certain threshold. My first week is done. It was far from easy but I pushed through the pain and began to transform myself into something new.

I planned my work and worked my plan, every workout was completed and not one rep was missed. What crossed my mind during every set that I did was one thing, the last rep. This is also known as the transcendent rep. Every rep that precedes this is just a warm-up to this threshold. The last rep is where you transcend from who you are to a new being, it's where growth and change happens. This is the rep that your body doesn't want to do and your mind hates; you can only venture into this rep with heart and soul.

The transcendent rep is only possible to reach when you tap into your soul and find the inner-strength needed to push your body and mind past its "limits" and into a territory that few ever find because they fear the pain. If you truly want to change, grow, and see results in your body you have to approach every single set and rep from within. In my opinion, the only way you can become an individual that nobody recognizes (including yourself), is by pushing yourself beyond what you think you're capable of.

In the video above you'll see Elliott Hulse, who's famous for his inspirational and informational fitness videos on Youtube, He speaks about the transcendent rep, what it is, what it takes to get there, and what you become when you push yourself through this threshold. I've watched it several times and keep coming back to it when I need an extra push and reminder of what's necessary to see true results. I encourage you to do the same.

Have you ever felt what it's like to push yourself past limits you thought impossible to pass? When's the last time you reached the transcendent rep, if ever, and pushed past this threshold? If you have pushed yourself past limits you thought impossible to pass, it's time to do it again. If you've reached the transcendent rep and pushed past this threshold before, it's time to do it again. Lastly, if you've never pushed yourself this far, it's time for you to do it.

Drastic change may not be the solution for everyone but it's necessary for some. If you have a genuine desire to become a version of yourself that you've never been before you have to summon strength that you never thought you had in order. This needs to be done on a consistent basis until you reach heights you once thought impossible to reach. So, if this strikes a cord with you, push the limits next time you're in the gym or out for a run, push yourself beyond having nothing left to give . . . transcend.
