We're all gifted in different ways, we have passions for different things, we gravitate towards pastimes that don't make sense to other people. Not one of us is the same but we're all one and there is no human being better than another. Therefore, talent does not exist, only hard work does.
You may have heard of Conor Mcgregor (UFC Fighter), especially if you follow the fight game. He's the man in the picture above and he's know for being ridiculously obsessed with his craft. It's his obsession that he attributes to his success NOT talent. Just hard work.
He's a wild and free spirit and he says some controversial things but what he says here resonates with me and it's hard to deny its truth:
"There's no talent here, just hard work. This is an obsession. Talent does not exist, we're all equal as human beings. You could be anyone if you put in the time. You will reach the top, and that's that. I'm not talented, I'm obsessed."
I get chills when I read that. Any goal can be reached if you put in the work. YOU can be anyone if you put in the time, you can lose weight, you can finish a marathon, you can go back to school and graduate (no matter your age), you can heal your relationships, you can change your life!
YOU CAN DO ALL THINGS but don't expect it to be easy. They call it hard work because it will take your blood, it will take your sweat, it will take your tears. But cry to keep going and endure hardship to press on. It's time to stop sitting on the sidelines and putting off the goals you can't stop thinking about.
Conor is about to actualize his dream of duplicating his past accomplishment of being a two-weight world champion simultaneously. He achieved this in the Cage Warriors circuit and is on the verge of doing the same thing in the UFC on November 12th, 2016 at UFC 205. If he does this (he'd correct me and say "when I do this") he'll be the first to ever hold two championship belts at the same time in UFC history.
History is written based upon what we do or fail to do. I know there's someone reading this right now who's struggling with making a decision that will dictate how history writes their story. So I implore you to remember why you started, hold onto that passion, become obsessed with it, and work your a@$ off!
